Time for John L. Smith’s coordinator’s to give back to him what he has given  Â

Â
John L. Smith last season admitted to me he was concerned about some of his coordinator’s play calling and it is time for them to step up here in the big time and give back to him. If I could be critical of one thing it is that I would have made a change at the DC but what about the conservative play calling in the big games? I have railed on that many times, and trust me the players feel the same way.

Â
John L. Smith comes from humble beginnings and he is loyal to those that helped him (read Dennis Erickson) and he now needs his coordinators to step up and finish. He needs them to show the Spartan Nation that they can handle it at this stage. This is the biggest season in his career and when people ranted for change (read me real loud) he stayed the course. I don’t blame Baldwin for the conservative play because I know that Coach keeps his nose in there and I think that he has some responsibility.

Â
I like both of these men, but this isn’t about a popularity contest. How many more big loses should your boss have to go before the media and the fans and admit what we already know: “the coaches didn’t have the kids prepared.” Come on guys, man up.

Â
Of course you guys will come out and destroy the Illini (can you hear me yawn) but I want to see it in 13 days in Ann Arbor. It is time for the defense to actually start and finish something you have the talent, and it is time to see the offense in a big game get a lead and hold it without getting conservative and costing you team and coach yet again another huge win…PLEASE!

Â
John L. has hung on now show the Spartan Nation he was right. Forget Illinois, it is time for you to go to Ann Arbor and win.
