Fun. Passion. Fire. None of it is there this year. The expectations of this year have done nothing but hurt this team. Last year you could see Drew Neitzel hit late shots and scream, holler and get the crowd riled up whether it was at home or on the road. Remember when Drew hit the three pointer against Wisconsin at home last year that seemed to hang on the rim forever? When that shot went down I saw a fire in his eyes. More passion for a game than I have seen in a long time. That fire and passion is gone. And not just from Drew, but from the entire team. Kalin Lucas is the only player that seems to be going all out for the entire game. The two other freshmen aren’t seeing nearly as much PT as they think they deserve. Well guess what. PLAY SOME DEFENSE AND YOU WILL SEE THE COURT.   This team needs something to happen. They need a fire lit under their [butt]. If they can’t get it, don’t look for this team to get out of the first round of the NCAA tournament. This next game against Indiana will really show where they are at.Â

Steroids in baseball

Bud Selig came out and said that he had heard of steroids in baseball in the mid-90’s, yet decided to follow Sammy Sosa and Mark McGwire around in their chase to catch Roger Maris, and is just now trying to get rid of them in the game because congress is all up in his grill about it. Hypocritical? I’ll let you be the judge.Â

When Roger Clemens goes in front of the senate committee on Wednesday, he is going to tell them that he didn’t take steroids, or HGH. He has a sworn affidavit from Jose Canseco saying that he has never talked to Jose about roids. Sure Jose is the most famous player to admit to using while playing the game, but is he really the guy that I want on my side? I think not. I had heard rumors about Roger and steroids a couple years ago, but nothing came of it. It’s about time they have pinned a player for steroids, and he is denying it. Reports are surfacing that Andy Pettite has told investigators that he has talked to McNamee about Clemens being on the juice. Also my favorite baseball player of all time (SARCASM) Barry Bonds is still without a team. I wonder why that is (Again, more sarcasm). Barry is nothing but a PR nightmare anymore. John Rocker has come out saying that he was talked to about how to do steroids by a team physician. Some people might not believe him, but I absolutely do. It makes total sense. In the Mitchell report it was said that teams knew about steroids, yet did nothing to stop it. Why wouldn’t they tell the players what they thought was the right way to do it? Baseball is becoming pure again, and for a huge baseball fan like I am, this is great news.

Last week on my birthday (Thank you for the happy birthday’s ;-)) the Spartan’s pulled in a recruiting class that is very underrated in my opinion. This class is full of very solid football players, but more importantly at this point in the program full of great character kids. The attrition rate in this class will be extremely lower than any class pulled in in the previous regime. You won’t see the players from this class having the legal problems that Sir Darean Adams and TJ Williams were in. Some of these recruits will be playing from day one, such as Fred Smith, Tyler Hoover (who by the way is a DE, not a TE) and Johnny Adams among others. People will remember this class as the tough class that contributes in a Rose Bowl.
