Spartans in the NFL- Week 3
           Despite the best efforts of the trio of Spartans playing for the Jets, the team could not beat the Raiders, as Oakland triumphed 34-24. New York wide receivers Plaxico Burress and Derrick Mason each played a big role in the passing game. Mason hauled in six passes for 45 yards, while Burress caught three balls for 55 yards, including a 16 yard touchdown. Jets safety Eric Smith racked up seven tackles, one assist, and one tackle for loss in the game.
           Defensive tackle Ogemdi Nwagbuo had one tackle for the Chargers in his team’s 20-17 victory over the Chiefs.
           Kellen Davis, a tight end for the Bears, made his only reception of Chicago’s matchup with Green Bay memorable. Davis caught a 32 yard touchdown pass for Chicago, but it was not enough, as the Packers beat the Bears 27-17.
           Quarterback Drew Stanton was not active for the Lions’ 3rd win of the season, this one over the Vikings, 26-23.
           Both Kyle Cook (center) and Domata Peko (defensive tackle) started for the Bengals in the squad’s 13-8 loss to the 49ers. Peko was all over the field in the contest: he had four tackles, four assists, one tackle for loss, and a forced fumble in the game.
           Colts defensive back Chris Rucker played in the team’s narrow 23-20 defeat at the hands of the Steelers, but recorded no stats. Fellow Spartan and teammate Blair White returned one punt for two yards.
           Middle linebacker Greg Jones had one tackle for the Giants in a 29-16 triumph over the Eagles. Devin Thomas also returned one kick for 33 yards for the Giants.
           Brandon Fields once again punted for a 50 yard average for the Dolphins in Miami’s last minute defeat to the Browns, 17-16. Fields averaged 50.3 yards per punt, his longest being a 55 yarder.
           Brian Hoyer did not see any action at quarterback in the Patriots’ close 34-31 loss to the Bills.
           In a matchup of Spartans, Javon Ringer and the Titans emerged victorious (17-14) over Kevin Vickerson and the Broncos. The Broncos defense, along with Vickerson (who started at defensive tackle but recorded no stats), held Ringer to negative six yards on six carries and seventeen yards on two receptions.
           Defensive tackle Brandon McKinney saw action in the Ravens’ 37-7 thrashing of the Rams, but recorded no stats.
