Good News For Suzy Merchant and MSU Ladies Basketball

She previously was honored as Michigan’s Miss Basketball and Gatorade Player of the Year.

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Incoming Michigan State women's basketball freshman Tori Jankoska of Freeland High School continued to pile up postseason honors, after being named to the 2013 PARADE High School All-American team. In March, she was named Michigan’s Miss Basketball and the state’s Gatorade Girls Basketball Player of the Year.

The 5-8 guard averaged 30.9 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 4.8 steals this season, as Freeland finished this season 22-2, but lost in the Class B regional semifinal. Jankoska shattered Freeland's career scoring record, totaling 2,333 points in her career.

Jankoska has been a first-team all-state selection as a junior and sophomore, while being an honorable choice as a freshman. She was named Player of the Year as a junior by the Midland Daily News, and has been on the newspaper's Dream Team each of her three seasons. She is also a three-time first-team all-conference honoree.
