Missouri Product Jordan Clarkson Records First Career Triple-Double

Utah Jazz guard Jordan Clarkson couldn't have started the new year any better.

Utah Jazz guard Jordan Clarkson recorded his first career triple-double on Monday night against the Dallas Mavericks, by tallying 20 points, 10 rebounds (season-high) and 11 assists (season-high).

The former Missouri Tigers standout's elite performance put his name in the history books, as he became the first player in franchise history to produce a triple-double in under 30 minutes (played just 27).

Additionally, Clarkson's remarkable feat is one that hasn't been accomplished in Utah for quite some time, as Ricky Rubio had the team's most recent triple-double on April 21, 2018, in the playoffs. That said, the Jazz's latest triple-double in the regular season came on Feb. 13, 2008, by Carlos Boozer—5,800 days and 1,256 Jazz contests ago. Clark's accomplishment gets even more impressive, as the sixth-man is the first to record tally one off the bench since Mark Eaton on Feb. 5, 1983.

"Big triple-double," Clarkson said. I think it's the first of my career. I'm just happy to finally break a record that's been here for a while, since 2008, Carlos Boozer, my man. 50 years of the Jazz and celebrating that, I had to do something to leave my mark."

The 12-year NBA veteran has helped the Jazz win five of its last six games and is aiming to lead them in the right direction after a rough start to the young season (they currently have a 15-19 record).

Clarkson transferred to Missouri in 2012 after spending two years in Tulsa. He red-shirted his first season in Columbia, Mo., but in 2013-14, he averaged 17.5 points (second-most on the team—Jabari Brown) and a team-high 3.4 assists per game. His impact was enough to get him drafted 46th overall in 2014 and he's played for Jazz, Los Angeles Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers since then.
