Missouri Weekly Recruiting Update: 4-star Quarterback Announces Top Four Schools

A weekly brief on everything involving Missouri recruiting and what fans should keep an eye out for.

4-star quarterback announces top four

On Feb. 6, composite 4-star Matt Zollers announced his final four schools, including the Missouri Tigers on the list.

Zollers, a native of Royersford, Pa, is composite ranked No. 197 nationally and No. 13 at his position. He is also the sixth highest ranked recruit in the state of Pennsylvania.

The other three schools on his final list include Georgia, Penn State and Pittsburgh.

The Georgia local has a brother on Pittsburgh's roster, walk-on freshman Zach Zoller, which could be a tie for Zoller to go to the Panthers. Missouri may appear as the odd man out because of the distance from home.

Jasper Johnson visiting Kentucky

Starting on Friday, composite 5-star guard Jasper Johnson will begin a visit to Kentucky.

The Link Academy athlete has visited North Carolina, West Virginia and Missouri. Johnson announced a top 10 schools, featuring the Wildcats, Missouri, Kansas, Alabama, North Carolina, Louisville, Auburn, Baylor, USC and West Virginia.

Johnson is composite ranked No. 12 in the nation, as well as the No. 3 combo guard. The 5-star guard  will be in Lexington the entirety of the weekend, meaning he will be in Rupp Arena for a matchup against the Gonzaga Bulldogs.

Johnson was in Columbia during the month of November, with multiple Tiger coaches in to see him periodically.

Dodson ready to make decision

Composite 3-star WR Joakim Dodson is prepared to make a decision on where he will be attending school on Saturday, Feb. 10.

Dodson recently announced Tennessee and Missouri as his finalists, where Tennessee appears to be the front runner. The Collierville, Ten native was in Knoxville this past weekend for one final visit before he committed.

The WR ranks as the No. 546 player in the nation and the country's No. 80 WR. Outside of his final two schools, he had offers from schools such as Virginia, Cincinnati, Arkansas, TCU, Vanderbilt, Tennessee and Mississippi State.

The Volunteers appear to be in the drivers seat leading into tomorrows commitment, but the Tigers have flipped guys at the last second previously.

Top linebacker target picks up two new offers

Composite 4-star linebacker Dawson Merritt has exploded onto the recruiting scene. Merritt is racking up offers left and right from power schools as his recruitment progresses. When the time comes, he will have a wide range of schools to choose from.

Merritt secured two new offers this past week. The first came on Monday, Feb. 5 from the USC Trojans. The next came on Wednesday, Feb. 7 from the Florida State Seminoles.

The 4-star linebacker ranks No. 149 in the country and No. 18 at his position. He is also a top-5 ranked player in his home state of Kansas. Merritt attends Blue Valley High School in Stilwell, Kan.
