On This Day in Mizzou History:

• October 26, 1996: A few weeks after Oklahoma State won the first overtime game ever played by a Division I-A program, 23-20 against Southwest Missouri State (now known as Missouri State), it went to overtime again against Missouri but didn't have the same fortune. The host Tigers pulled it out the 35-28 victory.

October 26, 2013: One of Steve Spurrier's famous quarterback changes paid off as Connor Shaw came off the bench with a sprained knee and South Carolina down 17 points, and guided the Gamecocks to a 27-24 victory in double overtime. Mizzou quarterback Maty Mauk finished with 249 yards in his second career start, including a 96-yard touchdown reception by L'Damian Washington

Quote of the Day

• "The loss will not define us. What will define this football team is how we deal with it. ... It stings, you feel awful. You feel terrible, and that's OK. But we've got to get going. We have a real good football team." — Gary Pinkel following the 2013 South Carolina loss. The Tigers still won the SEC East title.
