Did You Notice?
• Arkansas announced on Monday morning that it would retain head coach Sam Pittman. “I think that was a smart decision,” Mizzou coach Eli Drinkwitz said. “I think Sam Pittman is a heck of a football coach. I think he’s done an outstanding job at the University of Arkansas from when we first came in this league, we both came in together. The resurgence of that program and the job he’s done recruiting, coaching and developing.”
• Later in the day, Pittman responded to Drinkwitz's comments. "He’s a good man. The thing with Drink is you look at him, he came in and had a nice season his first year and then last year he was close,” Pittman said. "Two years ago he was close. Last year finished 6-6 and then this year they have as good a team as we have in the SEC. They stayed with it, and he’s got a lot of seniors on his team and is doing a great job over there. I appreciate him saying that and that’s just a good person saying what he feels.”
• Grace Slaughter is the first Missouri women's basketball player since Sophie Cunningham (2015-19) to start a career with four-consecutive double-digit scoring efforts.
• Nevada (Mo.) interior offensive lineman Talan Chandler flipped his commitment from Colorado, announcing his commitment to Missouri on Sunday.
• Drinkwitz gave a "shout out" during his press conference to Florida quarterback Graham Mertz, who suffered a nondisplaced collarbone fracture against the Tigers on Saturday. "As a competitor he's a really good player. ... I'm just disappointed that he got injured on the play."
Mizzou Quote of the Day:
"We enjoy that people think it isn’t rivalry because we believe it’s a rivalry,” — Eli Drinkwitz on Mizzou facing Arkansas on Friday.
