State Hoop Commit Terquavion Smith Off to Another Hot Tourney Start

Just as he did last week in Myrtle Beach, Class of 2021 NC State basketball commit Terquavion Smith is scoring at a high rate for his club team at a tournament in Rock Hill, S.C.

Terquavion Smith picked up Saturday in Rock Hill, S.C., right where he left off last week in Myrtle Beach, where he won tournament MVP honors by scoring in bunches for his club team Tea Marie Hoops.

The NC State commit scored 20 points in his first game of the Big Shots Hoops Nationals on Saturday to lead the way in a 71-65 win against Juice All-Stars NC Stephenson. Smith remained hot from the outside, hitting four three-pointers along the way.

The rising senior guard from Farmville Central High School hit 27 three-pointers over seven games last week, including eight in a 30-point effort in his final game during a Big Shots Hoop tournament in Myrtle Beach. He averaged 19.0 points over the four days of competition and his 133 points were the third most of all the players in the field.

A 6-foot-3, 180-pound All-State selection, Smith, is ranked as the No. 3 player in North Carolina and has led Farmville Central to back-to-back 2A state championships.

Smith's Tea Marie Hoops team won a second game on Saturday, eking out a 74-73 win against B-Maze Elite. Smith apparently didn't play in that game, though no word has been given why.

It is also unknown if he'll be in the lineup for his team's final game in Rock Hill, scheduled for Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
