The winning streak continues for Nebraska baseball.

The Huskers topped Northwestern 8-7 in 10 innings Sunday. The win is the 10th in a row for Nebraska and gives the Big Red its first sweep of an opening conference series since 2019

Nebraska improves to 20-5 on the year while Northwestern falls to 10-15.

The Huskers posted five runs in the fifth inning to take a 6-2 lead, but the Wildcats answered with a pair of runs in the sixth and three more in the eighth. NU plated a run in the top of the ninth inning to send the game into extras.

In the 10th inning, Cole Evans hit a sacrifice fly to center field that scored Clay Bradford. Husker reliever Kyle Perry then put down the Wildcats in order to earn the win.

Evans had two hits on the day, trailing only the 3-for-4 performance from Tyler Stone.

Perry, in his 2.1 innings of relief duty, retired all seven batters he faced and struck out three. Mason McConnaughey made his first weekend start of the season and allowed four runs on five hits in 5.2 innings, although he retired 15 consecutive batters between pair of two-run homers he surrendered.

Nebraska stays on the road Tuesday to face in-state rival Creighton at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha.
