Another significant contributor is set to return for coach Amy Williams and Nebraska women's basketball.

Amiiah Hargrove, a 6-2 sophomore forward from Illinois, posted to her personal social media on Tuesday, confirming that she would return to the Nebraska women's program with a post to her personal Instagram. Hargrove has been with the Huskers for two seasons since arriving in Lincoln as the No. 2 player in the state of Illinois as a four-time Class 1A All-State selection. She will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

"2 down, 2 to go," Hargrove wrote on her post Tuesday. "GBR always."

Hargrove helped Nebraska get to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in her two seasons on campus, as the sophomore saw an increased role as the 2025-26 season progressed for Nebraska. The forward came off the bench in the first 20 games of the season for the Big Red, but made her first starts on the season for a sidelined Jessica Petrie, who was battling illnesses from Jan. 28-Feb. 4, covering a span of four games.

During that time, Hargrove would not only start but would remain the starter for the final 12 games of 2026, ranking second on the team in scoring and leading the team in rebounding. She would nab a career-high 11 rebounds, tying her top mark for the third time in the season, in the Huskers' first-round NCAA Tournament loss to Baylor on March 20.

Hargrove finished the 2025-26 season with a sharp improvement in her overall freshman year numbers, jumping from 4.7 points per game to 12.7 while adding 5.5 rebounds per game, an improvement from 3.7 in the 2024-25 season. Hargrove added 10 blocks and 21 steals defensively this past season for the Huskers and managed to shoot 53% from the field.

Against Northwestern on Jan. 28, Hargrove would earn her first start of the season and contributed a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. The forward would finish her sophomore season with two double-doubles, opening with a 12-point, 11-rebound performance in Nebraska's 80-46 home win over Samford.

Hargrove scored in double figures numerous times throughout the season, having her best scoring performances on the road in Big Ten play. The sophomore added 26 points on 10-14 shooting at Penn State on Dec. 6 in the Huskers' 101-83 road win, then contributed 21 points on 9-11 shooting in a 73-71 road loss at Michigan State on Jan. 15. Hargrove would put 24 points up in a 90-71 road loss at Ohio State to open February, and finished Big Ten play in a 23-point effort on 10-14 shooting in Nebraska's 72-69 Big Ten Tournament loss to Indiana on March 4.

"There's going to be a lot that we can learn from this game. I think something we've kind of said all year is just looking at it and learning from it, building on it, attacking each day, and just sticking together. Leaning on each other," Hargrove said following Nebraska's loss in the Big Ten Tournament. "We do have a great group of girls."

Hargrove became a more impactful leader for Nebraska during the season as well, as the sophomore began the non-conference slate with less of a defined role but grew into her adjusted presence near the Thanksgiving break. Hargrove added 17 points in 25 minutes against North Dakota State then contributed 17 points in 26 minutes at Virginia before entering Big Ten play.

"I just think she's been playing to that [level] really, really well," coach Amy Williams said in December. "She's kind of embraced it and is just flourishing in that. We're just soaking that up, and I think that continuing to reap the benefits of everything she's bringing."

Hargrove would also earn recognition for her play in the Emerald Coast Classic Beach Bracket after being awarded an All-Tournament Team selection with her 17 points, eight rebounds, and two steals in 26 minutes off the bench in the Huskers' championship game win over the Cavaliers.

Hargrove joins Nebraska's sharpshooting guard Logan Nissley as a returner for the 2026-27 season after Nissley posted her return to the program on social media last week. Nebraska has only one player reportedly entering the transfer portal in forward Jessica Petrie. Hargrove's return sets up the Huskers with several options at forward, including Natalie Potts and Petra Bozan.

Nebraska also has incoming four-star freshman Ashlyn Koupal and Ava Miles from the 2026 recruitment class, providing an immediate spark of young talent for the Big Red to join Hargrove and the returning Huskers. Koupal is a top-rated prospect as the No. 11 recruit in the country, while Miles is a top-75 recruit.

The women's college basketball transfer portal officially opens on April 6 and closes on April 20.
