The Huskers held their first spring scrimmage Saturday morning and came out of it healthy, coach Matt Rhule said afterward.

The quarterbacks took hits and made runs during the 90-play session, which was Nebraska football's seventh practice of spring ball. Rhule said the defense wasn't informed until Saturday morning that the quarterbacks would be live, which probably played a part in the offense's success. The QBs taking snaps included Jeff Sims, Heinrich Haarberg, Chubba Purdy and Richard Torres.

"The offense looked ahead of the defense, and I think a lot of it was the quarterbacks' running," Rhule said. "You get to practice, and the quarterback drops back, and you blow it dead. Well, today, they had to try to hit Heinrich, and try to hit Chubba, try to hit Jeff, try to hit Richard. They bounced off it and ran for big, long plays. So that added in a dynamic that we haven't really exposed to the defense."

Rhule revealed that center Ben Scott was hurt Thursday when he got rolled up on in a drill, but he said it's a minor injury that should keep him out of practice for only a week or so. Justin Evans-Jenkins took Scott's place Saturday and has been playing well, Rhule said.

The team will return to the practice field Tuesday morning.
