Coach Scott Frost discussed what went wrong in the Huskers’ loss to Northwestern and urged fans to stay behind the team.

“Don’t give up on this team, because this is a neat group of kids,” he said Tuesday during Nebraska football's weekly press conference ahead of Saturday's game against North Dakota.

As for the season-opening upset loss in Ireland, Frost said it “came down to four or five plays on both sides of the ball again that we need to execute.” Avoiding a repeat of that “comes down to detail and consistency.”

Other points made by the coach:

  • Tight end Travis Vokolek is “day-to-day” after injuring an ankle in Saturday’s game.
  • Coaches need to find a way to get running back/receiver Rahmir Johnson involved in the offense.
  • Even though he mentioned a need for more creativity on offense during his postgame remarks Saturday, Frost said Tuesday that there is no tension between him and offensive coordinator Mark Whipple. “I was referring to maybe just having a few more things in the run game that are schemed for the particular opponent,” said Frost, who called Whipple “an elite play-caller.”

Nebraska also released a depth chart for the first time since last November. View it here.
