There's no shortage of hype surrounding Nebraska football's matchup Saturday with Colorado. Does a player ignore it, embrace it, or take an path somewhere in between?
Four Huskers delved a bit into their mind-sets as they met the press after Tuesday's practice.
"There's a lot of noise" surrounding the game, said offensive guard Ethan Piper, but "it just comes down to we play a game ... 60 minutes of football. No matter what happens, no matter what people say, we're going to watch the film and look at their techniques and see what we can do against them."
Saturday's game in Boulder will be the home debut of new CU coach Deion Sanders. Sanders' Buffaloes grabbed national attention — and a No. 22 AP poll ranking — with their 45-42 road upset of TCU last weekend.
Safety Omar Brown acknowledged that while every game is important, this one is special: “The reason I circled that game was because I love competition. I love playing against skilled players and players that will specifically play in the NFL. Some players may back away from it, but I can’t wait for it. It will be fun.”
Defensive back Quinton Newsome said slowing Colorado's offense will come down to “making plays when you can and knowing your job. Flying around to the ball and staying alert on the defense.”
Wide receiver Alex Bullock said of the Buffs: “They're a good team and they’re fast. It’s going to be a battle on Saturday.”
