It’s not often you hear about a high school quarterback from Wyoming, but the Nebraska Cornhuskers have been talking to one, and he made a trip to Lincoln last week for a visit.

Mason Drube is a 6-foot-3, 205-pound pro-style quarterback in the class of 2025 who attends Campbell County High School in Gillette, Wyoming.

Drube spoke with HuskerMax about his Nebraska recruitment and what makes the program an attractive destination for him.

“Nebraska is special to me because I grew up a Nebraska fan,” Drube stated. “I have family in Lincoln. The facilities are very impressive and I like their coaching staff.”

Growing up a fan of a school will forever be a pitch for a coach. It’s easy to see the good in a school that you grew up watching.

He talks to one specific coach the most: offensive analyst Adam DiMichelle.

“He reaches out usually once a week,” Drube said. “I have known him the longest and have a good relationship with him so far.”

He doesn’t hold an offer but does hope to receive one soon.

“As of right now, it’s hard to consider the Huskers a top school for me because I do not have an offer from them, but they potentially could be if we get further in the process,” he said.

He believes he can bring a key trait -- dedication -- to the team he chooses.

“Wherever I go, I am going to be dedicated and work hard to excel to the next level.”

He recalled his visit to Lincoln and talked about the Nebraska program's trajectory.

“I liked getting a feel for the program and culture of the team by watching their practice. It seems like Nebraska is going in the right direction and becoming the great program they once were.”
