Huskers Bolster Recruiting Class on Signing Day

Nebraska makes additions on defensive side, including two players flipped from Maryland and Miami

Two days after scoring a monumental flip, Nebraska football got more good recruiting news Wednesday.

It was the first day of the early signing period for the class of 2024, and the Huskers not only kept all their known commits in the fold, but they also landed several additional players on defense.

Coach Matt Rhule's staff secured the signatures of previously uncommitted cornerback Amare Sanders and flipped former Maryland commit Larry Tarver at cornerback and former Miami commit Vincent Shavers at linebacker.

With those additions and Monday's jaw-dropping flip of five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola, the Huskers' class ranked 18th, 19th, 20th and 21st nationally as of mid-day Wednesday, according to 247Sports, On3, ESPN and Rivals, respectively. Those ratings don't account for another Wednesday addition, FCS transfer cornerback Blye Hill from the portal.

With the signatures delivered, Rhule was able to speak for the first time about Raiola's decision to decommit from Georgia ("I think probably his heart always was here at Nebraska") plus much more about Nebraska's recruiting class.
