It’s not every day you see a highly ranked recruit with a rich family history in a school’s program. However, that is the case with four-star wide receiver Corey Simms. His father is former Nebraska basketball player Corey Simms, who earned four letters at guard during the early 2000s.

The younger Simms, who will be a senior this fall at Christian Brothers College High School in St. Louis, Mo., spoke recently with HuskerMax about the official visit to Nebraska he has coming up June 14-16.

“Nebraska has remained in communication with me and my parents. Nebraska’s entire coaching staff came to my school and paid me a visit. They introduced themselves to my mom and stepdad and we had great discussions about how I could be an important member of the team. Nebraska continues to make me feel like a priority,” Simms stated.

He dived deeper into his family legacy.

“My dad attended college and played basketball at Nebraska. However, I take pride in the hard work I’ve put in to build my own name and identity. I’m sure a lot has changed since then.”

He talked a bit about why the Huskers deserve an official visit.

“Nebraska remains in contact with me and my parents and shows lots of interest. The coaching staff was transparent and left a good impression on my family and I. Nebraska recently recruited Dylan Raiola and is continuing to build up their football program.”

Dylan Raiola was the No. 1 quarterback recruit in the 2024 class from Buford High School in Georgia. He is the prodigy QB who is being watched with great anticipation by this fanbase. He is also a Nebraska legacy.

“I’m looking forward to familiarizing myself with the climate and culture of Nebraska a little more,” Simms said. “I’d like to know what more Nebraska has to offer. I’m looking forward to having more in-depth and detailed conversations regarding the overall recruitment. I’m looking forward for me and my parents to gain clarification to any unanswered questions we may still have.”

“My vision is to continue to love the game of football wherever I play. My vision is to maintain consistency and continue to grow and develop as an overall player.”

He talked a bit about how big a deal this visit is.

“My parents and I take the recruitment process very seriously. Relationships, transparency and consistency are important. All of my scheduled visits are big deals because my parents have to take time to schedule and help support me in making a major decision. Any school we’ve scheduled time to visit is considered a big deal.”
