Analysis and Evaluation of 2022 TE Recruit Oscar Delp

Northwestern is among the 4-star tight end’s top 13 schools.

Top tight end recruit Oscar Delp took a massive leap from his sophomore to junior seasons. Delp improved his stats across the board: he increased his total yardage from 246 to 730, 15 receptions to 43, and zero touchdowns to nine.

If he wasn’t garnering the attention of national scouts before his junior season, he certainly is now. Delp has received offers from numerous schools that hope to land his talents, including Northwestern, who he listed as one of his top 13 options back in February.

More recently, however, his list of favorites was reportedly shortened to include the five schools he has taken official visits to so far: Clemson, Florida, University of Georgia, Michigan and South Carolina.

Below are Delp's highlights from his junior season along with an analysis of his strengths and weaknesses.

Analysis:

What immediately stands out about Delp is his unique blend of strength and quickness. He’s fast enough coming off the line to get by his defender and strong enough to overpower the incoming ones after the catch. That combined with his ability to make plays in traffic and in the air, as well as his knack to create separation while running his routes with slight hesitation moves makes Delp a dynamic prospect to keep an eye on.
