No. 8 Notre Dame and No. 20 Michigan are about to kick off. Time to join the GameDay Chat!

10:03 PM Update: An Ian Book interception is overturned because of a Michigan pass interference penalty. Notre Dame takes advantage and Book hits TE Cole Kmet for a 7-yard touchdown, thanks in part to a tremendous catch by Chase Claypool to get the Irish in the red zone. Irish still trail 17-7.

9:35 PM Update: According to a Michigan radio report, RB Tony Jones Jr. is injured for Notre Dame.

9:16 PM Update: First half ends with Notre Dame trailing Michigan 17-0. Michigan has out-gained Notre Dame 189-52. The Wolverines have 167 rushing yards. QB Shea Patterson is just 2-4 for 22 yards.

8:49 PM Update: Right guard Tommy Kraemer was down and being worked on by the medical staff. He was helped off the field by the training staff. He could not walk off on his own. 5th-year senior Trevor Ruhland is in at right guard.

8:45 PM Update: Michigan drives 60 yards on seven plays to take a 17-0 lead. All but one of those plays was a run.

8:29 PM Update: Michigan caps an 8-play, 59-yard drive with a rushing touchdown to take a 10-0 lead. Notre Dame's run defense had two major problems on the series, beyond missed tackles. UM did a good job sealing ND inside with good leverage based on alignment and calls. Two, Notre Dame's backside pursuit is not getting where it needs to be. UM already has 115 rushing yards at the 13:51 mark of the second quarter.

8:22 PM Update: First quarter ends with Michigan up 3-0 and facing a 2nd-7 at the Notre Dame 19-yard line. Irish have missed three tackles at or behind the line on this series, including a 3rd-and-1 missed opportunity.

8:08 PM Update: Instead of Notre Dame getting the ball deep in UM territory after a blocked punt, the mental mistake by the Irish special teams opens up a scoring opportunity for Michigan. Wolverines go 65 yards on 9 plays to take a 3-0 lead.

8:00 PM Update: Bo Bauer blocks a Michigan punt but a Notre Dame player tried to recover it and Michigan recovered. Huge turn of events.

7:43 PM Update: Notre Dame won the toss and will receive. All four captains were defensive players. Khalid Kareem, Julian Okwara, Alohi Gilman and Jalen Elliott.

7:31 PM Update: The rain has been heavy and persistent. Pre-game saw a lot of dropped balls by both teams. Throwing will be difficult. I would imagine any big plays in the pass game will involve slips and falls.
