Notre Dame Injury Report for Wisconsin: Viliamu-Asa, Porter Updates

Notre Dame football is a day closer to kicking off against Wisconsin as the Shamrock Series opener at Lambeau Field is now just five days away.

For Notre Dame, it's the first step in what most think will be a memorable season where a national championship is seriously in the mix.

A key to that happening, though, will be having some luck with health along the way, something Notre Dame didn't have any of by the time it reached the National Championship game at the end of the 2024 season.

Notre Dame Injury Report for Wisconsin Game

Questionable Players

Notre Dame released its official depth chart for the Wisconsin game on Monday, and alongside it was the latest injury report.

One key defender enters game week listed as questionable for Notre Dame, as linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa is coming back from a left knee injury suffered late last season.

Viliamu-Asa's mother didn't seem to be too concerned with the announcement (see above).

While you hope he'll be able to give it a go against Wisconsin, having him entirely healthy when the likes of BYU and Miami get on the schedule is much more important at this point. And having a couple full games under his belt beforehand would be even better, so with what we expect Wisconsin's offense to be, I don't feel like a Notre Dame victory or defeat will come down to if the star linebacker plays.

Out for the Game

Notre Dame officially listed eight players out for Saturday's game, none of which came as a surprise. They were players that missed the majority, or all of fall camp with injuries that were already known.

LB - Ko'o Kia - Left Shoulder
WR - Quincy Porter - Left Knee

OL - Chris Terek - Right Knee

Notre Dame's wide receiver room is improved, but what is going to be realistic for Quincy Porter in 2026? That's really the only injury from the out part of the list that sticks out, because of what he and Mylan Graham were supposed to bring when both transferred in from Ohio State.

In the meantime, Notre Dame has a ton of unknowns after the veterans at wide out, not that Porter is exactly proven, considering he has four career receptions, but until proven otherwise, the wide receiver group is a bunch of hype and potential built on recruiting rankings, not a ton on the field.

Will this finally be the year that narrative changes for Notre Dame? It certainly has the quarterback to help up the game of the pass catchers.
