Bengals QB Controversy: Joel Klatt Says Ohio State Fans 'Don't Get to Claim Joe Burrow!'

With Joe Burrow and Jalen Hurts both having attended two schools, it has become a debated topic on which school gets to claim them.

With the success of quarterbacks Joe Burrow and Jalen Hurts in the NFL, the topic of which schools get to claim them has become a seemingly highly debated area of discussion.

Both Burrow and Hurts were transfer quarterbacks, with Burrow transferring from Ohio State to LSU and Hurts departing from Alabama to Oklahoma. While the topic has taken off, Fox analyst Joel Klatt offered his stance on Saturday Tradition.

“I’m sure Jalen Hurts has a big place in his heart for Alabama, but he had to leave," Klatt said. "Like, this whole notion – and I see Ohio State doing it with Joe Burrow, and Alabama doing it with Jalen Hurts – it’s like, listen, those guys had to leave."

"You can argue that they had the most success in college uniforms away from those schools, certainly in Burrow’s case.”

While Burrow transferred to LSU prior to the 2018 season, Hurts moved on to Oklahoma prior to the 2019 season. During his time at Alabama Hurts would help win a national championship, before helping Oklahoma win the Big 12 in 2019 during his Heisman runner-up season.

Burrow, unlike Hurts, didn't have the same level of success at both stops, only appearing in 10 games as a Buckeye. He led LSU to a national title in 2019 while winning the Heisman, throwing for 5,671 yards and a staggering 60 touchdowns.

Either way, though, Klatt is not fond of those who claim Burrow and Hurts at their original schools.

“Hey Bama and Ohio State, you don’t get to claim Burrow and Jalen Hurts," Klatt said. "You’ve got enough guys to claim. Let’s be honest, these guys are for OU and LSU.”

Regardless of what Klatt says though, both Burrow and Hurts have shown plenty of love to each of their respective alma maters.
