'Great Day Planned!' Ryan Day Previews Ohio State Buckeyes Spring Game

The Ohio State Buckeyes hit the field for their annual spring game on Saturday, looking to put on a show.

The Ohio State Buckeyes are on the cusp of completing spring camp and kicking off the annual spring scrimmage on Saturday, in what is one of the more anticipated editions of the game in recent memory.

In fact, head coach Ryan Day revealed on Wednesday that more the 50,000 tickets have been sold for the game, meaning Ohio Stadium will be packed to preview what the Buckeyes have to offer next season.

Not only that, but it will be the first ever nationally televised spring game to be broadcast by FOX, with former Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer set to be on the call.

And according to Day, the Buckeyes are ready to put on a show.

“It’s a great day planned. To be the first spring game nationally televised on FOX, it’s exciting for our guys, for Buckeye Nation, and for the program," Day said. "It’s really cool, a really great opportunity. Our guys want to put on a good show and have some fun with it. There will be a lot of great recruits here. There’s a lot of great momentum around the program with how things have continued to build."”

So what will the Buckeyes have in store for the fans? Day admits that they will be smart about putting star players in position to take hits, such as running back TreVeyon Henderson.

That said, Day still plans to give players opportunities to make plays - particularly the quarterbacks, who are still locked in a competition for the starting job.

"We'll have our ones out there. Some of the guys who have 1,000-plus reps, who have played a lot of football here, will be in a little bit of a 'thud' mode early on," Day said. "Someone like TreVeyon Henderson doesn't need to be tackled on Saturday."

"At the same time, it's going to be competitive. We're gonna get after it and give the quarterbacks opportunities, even with the ones in there to go ahead and make plays, and we'll try and create some situations for all of those guys to get reps."

Among those QB's who are looking to make an impact in their fight for the job are transfer Will Howard and freshman Julian Sayin - a pair of players who Buckeye fans eagerly await their first glances at in a game setting.

They will get their chance when the game kicks off at12 pm ET on FOX.
