What Did Jeremiah Smith Say About Brandon Inniss?

The Ohio State Buckeyes are potentially getting another otherworldly wide receiver duo between Brandon Inniss and Jeremiah Smith if the latter signs with the program, but the two have come to know each other years prior to their possible reunion in Columbus.

The two might be teammates in 2024, but Brandon Inniss and Jeremiah Smith's relationship began years prior.

Smith, an Opa Locka, FL. native, told BuckeyesNow he and Inniss, a Fort Lauderdale, FL. native, are "really close."

Smith said Inniss was a person he "really looked up to because he was getting offers in eighth grade."

"I was like, 'Wow,' and he was getting noticed and I was just like, 'Damn, I want to be like him,'" Smith said. "I kept my head down, started working and I got offered."

The two pass-catchers first met at a young age.

"I've been knowing Brandon since I was like 9, 10, 11. We played flag (football) together," Smith said. "That was my first time ever meeting him."

Inniss signed as part of the Buckeyes' recruiting class of 2023, while Smith, if he signs with Ohio State, looks to be the fifth-best prospect in program history in the class of 2024.

Smith said he "loved" Ohio State when he visited, while Inniss encouraged him to commit to being a Buckeye.

"He was just pushing me like, 'I mean, coach Hartline, you can see what he can do with you. You're seeing what he did with Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson, stuff like that. That could be us,'" Smith said. "'So just come, commit and then we'll be good.'"
