Ohio State '20 Commit Clark Phillips III (CB) Highlights and Evaluation

Outstanding Vision, Track-Star Speed, Alpha Mentality

UPDATE: Clark Flips commitment to Utah

Class of 2020 Ohio State commit Clark Phillips III (5'10/180) commits to a proven NFL defensive back pipeline. Coming from La Hambra High, Clark has a proven ability to cover some of the fastest receivers in the country. Playing a fierce schedule headlined by Mission Viejo, Clark was consistent in his defensive coverage, playmaking, and tackling, as well as shining with these offensive stats.

  • Receiving Yards - 1210
  • Receptions - 54
  • TD's - 19

Strengths

He's got the type of YAC ability that makes him a threat any time he touches the ball on either side of the ball. When he's toting the rock, you can see his eyes are 2 steps ahead of his feet. He's got a plan based on any type of tackle the defender tries and can zoom through any lane that opens.

Impressive work ethic and outstanding drive to succeed in not only football but in all his goals, magnetize college recruiters to him. Clark is not only a special football talent, he's got a solid head on his shoulders too which will bode him well in the chaotic and tempting world of Division 1 CFB.

Questions

Take a look at this film and ask yourself, why does OSU want Clark on defense when he's such a gifted receiver? Mind you, this film you're about to see was against Justin Flowe's (#1 ILB in the nation) Upland HS defense. Let me know in the comments section where (offense or defense) you think he fits best!

If Ohio State doesn't at least have him return kicks, they're really limiting his potential. Clark isn't just a cornerback, he's a complete football player.

Clark will be practicing and playing alongside fellow class of 2020 commit 5-star WR Julian Fleming, and offensive linemen Luke Wypler, and 5-star offensive tackle Paris Johnson Jr. He'll also be working closely alongside fellow DB and recent OSU commit Lathan Ransom
