Oklahoma Welcomes Georgia Tech Transfer

Jalon Moore officially arrived in Norman on Friday, and Porter Moser expects his athleticism to allow the Sooners to increase their tempo.

NORMANOklahoma head men's basketball coach Porter Moser announced the addition of transfer Jalon Moore to the 2023-24 roster on Friday.

Moore spent the previous two seasons at Georgia Tech, appearing in 45 games and making 16 starts.

"Jalon brings length, toughness and tremendous athleticism to our roster," said Oklahoma head men's basketball coach Porter Moser. "He impacts the game in transition and on the offensive glass. Jalon's athleticism will help us run our up-tempo offense next season. Excited for him to take the next step and help us take the next step. I look forward to him joining the OU family."

Moore appeared in 32 games and made 15 starts last season. He averaged 7.6 points and 4.7 rebounds per outing. Moore shot 43.0 percent (88-204) from the field and 69.0 percent (64-93) from the line. He tallied 13 games with 10-plus points and wrangled five or more boards on 18 occasions.

Moore prepped at Gardendale High School in Gardendale, Ala. He averaged 21.7 points, 9 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.5 blocks per outing as a senior and shot 57 percent from the floor and 33 percent from three. As a junior, Moore averaged 20 points and 10 rebounds per contest and was an Alabama Sports Writers Association All-State Selection.

John holds a bachelor's degree in Mass Communications from East Central University in Ada, OK. Born and raised in North Pole, Alaska, John played football and wrote for the school paper at Ada High School in Ada, OK. He enjoys books, movies and travel, and lives in Broken Arrow, OK, with his wife and two kids.
