Oklahoma in Contention for Group of Talented 2025 Recruits

Once again, the Sooners are in contention for a handful of talented 2025 recruits as four players included OU in their top schools list.

Despite already having 10 pledges in the 2025 recruiting class, Brent Venables and Oklahoma are not slowing down on the recruiting trail.

Just this week, the Sooners remained in the mix for four junior prospects that would strengthen what is already the nation's No. 6 class, according to Rivals and 247Sports.

With one of the top 15 quarterback's in the nation, a trio of 4-star wide receivers, two offensive lineman and a pair of defensive lineman already on board in the 2025 cycle, OU's upcoming group has already started to take shape.

On Friday, 3-star Mill Creek (GA) linebacker Luke Metz released his top six around two hours after receiving an offer from the Sooners. Still, Metz included Oklahoma, Duke, Mississippi, LSU, Missouri and Tennessee in his top schools list.

At 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds, Metz has good size and the speed to play linebacker in a Venables' defense. With Carl Albert (OK) standout Marcus James already in OU's 2025 class at the same position, Metz would add another talented, rangy linebacker to the group and help strengthen an important recruiting pipeline in the Peach State.

In the 2024 recruiting class, the Sooners were able to land 4-star wide receiver Zion Ragins out of Gray, GA.

On Wednesday, 3-star Armwood (FL) running back Girard Pringle Jr. included Oklahoma in his Top 8 alongside Georgia, Texas A&M, Boston College, Louisville, Miami, Georgia Tech and Alabama.

Listed at 5-foot-10 and 180 pounds, Pringle Jr. is a speedy playmaker that lines up in the backfield and at wide receiver. As a sophomore, the Sunshine State product was clocked at 10.89 in the 100-meter dash.

With no running backs on board yet in the Sooners' 2025 class, Pringle Jr. would be the perfect fit for a group that already has a handful of other talented skill position players.

The Armwood standout first picked up an offer from DeMarco Murray and company in late January.

Just one day before Pringle Jr.'s announcement, 4-star American Heritage (FL) defensive back Gregory Thomas released his Top 10. Thomas' list included Oklahoma, LSU, Tennessee, Penn State, Texas A&M, Florida State, Miami, Wisconsin, Colorado and West Virginia.

Listed at 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds, Thomas is rated the No. 111 overall player and No. 13 cornerback in the nation, according to 247Sports.

Hailing from Fort Lauderdale, FL, Thomas would be OU's first defensive back pledge in the upcoming class if Jay Valai and company are able to land the coveted corner.

On Friday, Marion-Franklin (OH) star Dawayne Galloway Jr. included Oklahoma in his Top 12 alongside Kentucky, Tennessee, West Virginia, Penn State, Texas A&M, Purdue, UCF, Michigan, Colorado, Syracuse and Georgia.

Listed at 6-foot-2 and 175 pounds, Galloway Jr. is rated the No. 98 overall player and No. 11 cornerback in the country, per On3. In addition to his height and length, the Ohio native also has great speed, running a 10.42 in the 100-meter dash.

Offers Extended

In addition to landing in the top schools list for the aforementioned recruits, the Sooners also offered four more high school prospects.

In the 2025 class, OU offered 3-star Wharton (FL) cornerback Graceson Littleton on Friday.

Listed at 6-feet-tall and 180 pounds, Littleton holds over 25 offers from schools like Florida, Kentucky, Kansas State, Penn State and others.

Venables and company also offered a trio of 2026 recruits, starting with Orange Lutheran (CA) linebacker Talanoa Ili. Listed at 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds as a sophomore, Ili has great speed and has been clocked running at over 20 miles per hour on the football field.

On Tuesday, the Sooners extended an offer to Parkview (AR) sophomore linebacker Jakore Smith. Listed at 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds, OU Smith's second offer after the Arkansas Razorbacks.

At Parkview, Smith is teammates with 2025 Oklahoma defensive back target Omarion Robinson.

The Sooners' final 2026 offer went out to Legacy School of Sport Sciences (TX) wide receiver Keisean Henderson. Listed at 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds, Henderson is rated the No. 69 overall player and No. 10 wide receiver in the sophomore class, according to 247Sports.

The Houston-area product is also the teammate of another OU target, fellow 2026 wideout Mike Brown, who picked up his offer from the Sooners last summer at the Brent Venables Elite Camp in Norman.
