UCLA Lands Oklahoma State Star Transfer Eric Dailey Jr.

The former Cowboy is heading West for a new opportunity at UCLA.

One of Oklahoma State’s transfers has found his new home.

Eric Dailey Jr. announced his commitment to UCLA on Tuesday after one season with OSU. Dailey joins UCLA to become the first Cowboy who entered the portal this offseason to commit to a new school.

Dailey entered the portal after OSU fired seven-year coach Mike Boynton after a 12-20 season. In the following weeks, OSU searched for and found its new coach, Steve Lutz, from Western Kentucky.

Although Lutz committed to trying to get those who had entered the portal back in Stillwater, it appears any efforts to keep Dailey were not enough. Dailey, along with Javon Small, Brandon Garrison and Quion Williams, is a key loss for the Cowboys and the first to officially head elsewhere.

Although Dailey is leaving the Big 12 and its new look, he joins UCLA ahead of its first season in the Big Ten. As the Bruins make their move to a new conference, Dailey gives them a talented young player who can be a cornerstone for their future.

In his freshman season, Dailey averaged 9.3 points and 4.8 rebounds while shooting 49.6% from the field. At 6-foot-8, 230 pounds, Dailey provides a big, athletic presence inside.

Dailey was in and out of the starting lineup for the Cowboys and seemed to find his role after moving to the bench in the early stages of Big 12 play. In his last 15 games, all off the bench, Dailey averaged 8.9 points and 4.1 rebounds but improved his efficiency from outside, making 50% of his 3-point attempts.

His best game came in the Cowboys’ overtime loss to Oklahoma. In that matchup, Dailey put up 20 points and nine rebounds.

Although things did not work out for Dailey in Stillwater, he has an opportunity to flourish at UCLA.
