Big 12: All Pokes Big 12 Rankings After Week 9

What do the All Pokes staff rankings look like for the Big 12 after another weekend of college football?

Week 9 brought some wild games to college football, and one of those happened to be in the Big 12. On top of that, the Oklahoma State Cowboys downed the Cincinnati Bearcats 45-13 in what turned out to be another incredible game for Ollie Gordon.

After this weekend, the Big 12 has a five-way tie for the first play, and the last few weeks of the college football season are going to be quite entertaining.

Here are the All Pokes staff Big 12 power rankings.

1. Texas, 7-1 (4-1)

Taking care of business, the Longhorns downed BYU pretty handily despite playing with their backup quarterback. They sit firmly in the number one spot after an Oklahoma loss.

2. Oklahoma State, 6-2 (4-1)

The Cowboys, as mentioned, took down Cincinnati 45-13 behind another absurd Ollie Gordon game. They, as did Texas, benefitted from an Oklahoma loss.

3. Oklahoma, 7-1 (4-1)

Despite having a win over Texas and only one loss, the Sooners fall below the top two spots for the first time this season. A close win over UCF a week ago and a loss to Kansas this weekend severely hurt their ranking for now.

4. Kansas State, 6-2 (4-1)

The Wildcats seem to have figured it out this season. They've won their last two games by a total margin of 82-3. They've got a big upcoming test in Texas in what will be an important game for the Big 12 standings.

5. Kansas, 6-2 (3-2)

The Jayhawks took a couple of tough losses to Texas and Oklahoma State, two teams ranked ahead of them, but are coming off a win over Oklahoma. They next take on Iowa State, another team tied for first place in the Big 12 standings.

6. Iowa State, 5-3 (4-1)

With their only conference loss coming to Oklahoma, the Cyclones have had an impressive stretch of conference play. It'll be interesting to see if they can continue on their success as the season winds down.

7. West Virginia, 5-3 (3-2)

Back-to-back losses against Houston and Oklahoma State *really* hurt the Mountaineers after they got off to a hot start in Big 12 play. They defeated UCF this past weekend to bounce back.

8. TCU, 4-4 (2-3)

Things have gone downhill as the Horned Frogs lost their third conference game a week ago, dropping a 41-3 matchup to the Wildcats.

9. BYU, 5-3 (2-3)

After solid non-conference play, BYU hasn't had the best of times in their first season in the Big 12, with a recent loss to Texas, who was playing with their backup quarterback.

10. Texas Tech, 3-5 (2-3)

Two straight losses before a bye week wasn't ideal for the Red Raiders, and their schedule moving forward isn't ideal for them this season.

11. Baylor, 3-5 (2-3)

The Bears have defeated two newcomers in the conference, but have lost to each legacy Big 12 team they've played. This season hasn't fared well for Baylor.

12. UCF, 3-5 (0-5)

UCF has had to play nothing but legacy Big 12 teams so far, and they've been unable to win any of them. They soon take on Cincinnati in what should be their first conference win since joining the Big 12.

13. Houston, 3-5 (1-4)

Since beating West Virginia on a Hail Mary, the Cougars have lost a narrow game to Texas and been blown out by Kansas State. They've got two big opportunities out of their last few games in their season to pick up wins.

14. Cincinnati, 2-6 (0-5)

After being blown out by the Cowboys this weekend, things aren't looking good for the Bearcats, who are on a six-game losing streak. They don't have the most favorable end of their schedule, which they would need to win out to make a bowl game.
