OSU Softball: Lexi Kilfoyl Shines, Helps Cowgirls Secure The Victory Over Florida

The senior was dominant from start to finish, en route to a victory over the Gators.

Lexi Kilfoyl tamed Florida on Monday.

The senior was in control all night, throwing the complete game shutout and helping Oklahoma State secure the 3-0 victory over Florida at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium in Gainesville, Florida.

With the win, OSU improves to 7-2, while Florida falls to 8-2 on the season.

Kilfoyl made quick work of the Gators, giving up only one hit in the first four innings. She gave up zero runs on three hits with six strikeouts in seven innings of work.

OSU's defense was backing up Kilfoyl as well, especially Tallen Edwards. Florida's Reagan Walsh would hit a fly ball near foul territory, and it was looking like she would get another chance against Kilfoyl.

Edwards wouldn't let her have another opportunity, snatching the ball and making a terrific play to start the bottom half of the fourth inning.

Both teams combined for only five hits in the contest, but it was Karli Godwin's long ball that did the damage.

After Scotland David and Edwards both got on in the third inning, Godwin would bring them home, launching a three-run home run over the left field wall and giving OSU the 3-0 lead.

That was the only runs of the contest as Florida's Keagan Rothrock threw a stellar game as well against the Cowgirls. She gave up three runs on two hits, with two walks and seven strikeouts in six innings pitched.

Florida's only threat came in the second inning. Walsh drew the walk to start the inning, and Ava Brown would single up the middle, putting runners on first and second with only one out.

Kilfoyl would remain calm, collecting the next two outs and ending the inning for the Gators.

Kilfoyl would cause Florida problems for the rest of the night, helping OSU secure the victory over Florida.

The Cowgirls next contest comes on Wednesday, when it takes on Stetson at 5 p.m. at DeLand, Florida. The contest will be streamed on ESPN+.
