Preseason Baseball Poll: Ole Miss Slated to Finish Sixth in SEC West

The Ole Miss Rebels were picked to finish sixth in the SEC West by the conference's coaches this week.

It is prediction time as the 2024 College Baseball season is right around the corner. Preseason polls and All-SEC squads were released on Thursday, and they were not kind to the Ole Miss Rebels

No Rebels appeared on either of the two preseason all-conference squads, and Ole Miss was predicted to finish sixth in the SEC West. While the season hasn't started yet, this ranking makes sense in a way. This Ole Miss team is full of new faces and players that aren't proven as of right now, and after missing the postseason a year ago, "unknowns" don't always bode well for preseason hype.

Arkansas was picked to win the conference with votes followed by LSU with three and Florida with two. The Rebels will face the Hogs and the Tigers late in the season, maybe with a chance to play as spoiler.

You can view the entire listing of the SEC West below with first place votes indicated in parenthesis:

1. Arkansas Razorbacks (9)

2. LSU Tigers (5)

3. Texas A&M Aggies

4. Alabama Crimson Tide

5. Auburn Tigers

6. Ole Miss Rebels

7. Mississippi State Bulldogs

The Rebels will open the season on Feb. 16 when they face the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors on the road to open a four-game series. First pitch is set for 10:35 p.m. CT, and the game will be televised on Spectrum Sports.
