OXFORD, Miss. -- Point guard Gavin 'Q' Murphy announced his commitment to the Ole Miss Rebels on Thursday via social media. Ole Miss coach Chris Beard is officially up to 10 total commits for the 2023 recruitment class with the Rebels.

Murphy previously announced in May that he would be foregoing his other college offers in favor of being a walk-on at Ole Miss, according to On3. Murphy turned down offers from the Bryant Bulldogs, Colorado State Rams, East Carolina Pirates, New Mexico Lobos, and NJIT Highlanders in favor of Beard's Rebels.

"Excited to be a part of Ole Miss Basketball and playing for Coach Beard!" - Murphy via Twitter

Murphy spent his high school career playing for the Calabasas (Calif.) Coyotes and recorded 1,704 points which landed him fourth on the school's all-time scoring list. Murphy scored 697 points his senior year after being named the Marmonte League MVP as a junior. Murphy was named to the 2022-23 Marmonte League First-Team.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound guard has a knack for knocking down triples as he finished his senior season with over 100 three-pointers made.

Murphy will have to work his way onto the court, but if he can become a consistent shooter at the collegiate level, he could find himself in Beard's rotation.
