Former Ole Miss Rebels receivers DK Metcalf and A.J. Brown are set to battle each other during Week 15 of the 2023-24 NFL season when the Seattle Seahawks host the Philadelphia Eagles for Monday Night Football.

During Seattle's press conference on Thursday, Metcalf took the time to reflect on his time in college and laud his ex-teammate. Metcalf mentioned that the wideouts were not exactly pals before arriving at Ole Miss, but they quickly developed a friendship that helped implant determination and a strong work ethic.

“Just from our time at Ole Miss we knew we we’re only going to be there for ‘x’ amount of years and we knew what we had to do to get there,” Metcalf said Thursday. “We just had to outwork everybody and that’s just what we did from day one. We didn’t like each other coming out of high school because we always played against each other, but then we got to Ole Miss together, we knew we were going to be a tandem to be dealt with. I needed him and he needed me, and we put our differences aside and started working together.”

The two wideouts have been compared to each other since their days as Rebels, but Metcalf explained what Brown is better at and how it pushes him to be better.

“Well he was always better route runner than me and he always caught the ball naturally,” Metcalf said of Brown. “That’s something I always tried to do better than him, I always admired how he did that. I just tried to copy him and do everything that he did but put my own spin on it.”

This season, Metcalf has hauled in 51 receptions for 864 receiving yards and seven touchdowns, while Brown has caught 90 passes for 1,258 yards and seven touchdowns.

Seattle vs. Philadelphia is set to kickoff at 7:15 p.m. CT and the game will be televised on ESPN.
