Former Ole Miss Rebels DB Isheem Young Enters Transfer Portal

Isheem Young is no longer a part of the Ole Miss Rebels program, and he announced his intention to enter the transfer portal this week.

Ole Miss Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin confirmed after his team's 38-35 win over the Texas A&M Aggies this season that defensive back Isheem Young was no longer a part of the team. Now, the safety has announced his intentions to transfer to a new program for his final season of college football.

Young joined the Ole Miss roster in the spring of 2022 after two seasons with the Iowa State Cyclones, and he announced his decision on X, the platform previously known as Twitter, on Monday.

“I got one more year left of [college football]," Young posted. "I’ll be in the portal after I graduate in a couple weeks.”

Kiffin was asked this season about Young's status with the team after his noticed absence against the Vanderbilt Commodores. The Rebels head coach stated that his absence was not medical and was for disciplinary reasons. After the win over Texas A&M, Kiffin confirmed that Young was no longer part of the program.

"Isheem's not part of our program," Kiffin said after the game. "We wish him the best. We're just trying to get the guys ready that are here."

Young was Ole Miss' second-leading tackler entering the 2023 season, and he was named Second Team Freshman All-America by The Athletic in the COVID-riddled 2020 season.

In his junior season in 2022, he saw action in all 13 of Ole Miss' games with nine starts at safety. He saw time in seven games for the Rebels this season before, according to Kiffin, disciplinary issues sidelined him.
