John Rhys Plumlee named Men's MVP at Rebels Choice Awards

Ole Miss held their 2020 Rebels Choice Awards a little differently – entirely virtually. John Rhys Plumlee, just a freshman, was named Men's MVP. See who else won awards.

Ole Miss couldn't hold their 2020 Rebels Choice Awards in similar fashion as past years.

In replace of a semi-formal gala, Ole Miss moved the awards to the internet, still attempting to honor their student athletes even in these uncertain times.

Most Valuable Players of the night went to softball's Kylan Becker and football's John Rhys Plumlee, the highlight of fifteen awards handed out virtually over the course of the evening.

"It's unbelievable. It's an incredible honor to be named that by your peers," Plumlee said. "It really means a lot to me, I'm at a loss of words for it. It's a big honor for sure."

As a true freshman that didn't even start at the beginning of the football season, Plumlee took off when he got the chance. The quarterback led the SEC in rushing yards per game (113.7), broke the Ole Miss single-season record for rushing yards by a QB (1,023) and set freshman records for rushing yards (1,023) and rushing touchdowns (12). He then went right over to Swayze Field and contributed in baseball.
