'Let's Rock Out!' Daijahn Anthony Ready For Rebels' Trip to Tuscaloosa

The senior Rebels safety was made available to the media on Tuesday.

OXFORD, Miss. -- Daijahn Anthony has made a multitude of stops along his football journey.

The safety originally suited up for the Division II Shepherd Rams before he made the jump to Division I, joining Hugh Freeze and the Liberty Flames. His talents then led him to transfer again this offseason, this time joining the Ole Miss Rebels in the SEC.

While at Liberty, Anthony played in some difficult environments, such as facing the Arkansas Razorbacks and BYU Cougars, but he will now be tasked with the environment of Bryant-Denny Stadium this week as the Rebels take on the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Is he nervous? Not hardly.

"I played some big games at Liberty," Anthony said in media availability on Tuesday. "It's just another game, man. We're just ready to play and show the world what we're about.

"It's almost all the same. At Division II, we had a lot of Division I bounce-backs who were coming. I always played against good competition."

Although player life and schedules are different at lower levels of college football, these experiences helped prepare Anthony for the test he will face on Saturday.

Speaking of tests, the Crimson Tide have been through a quarterback controversy in the early portions of this season, but Nick Saban officially named Jalen Milroe as his starter earlier this week. Now that Ole Miss knows who it will face on Saturday, the defense is taking note of his skillset.

"Definitely plus one in the run game because he's a running quarterback," Anthony said. "He's a good quarterback, so just ready to go see him Saturday."

It's no secret that Alabama has looked vulnerable in the first three weeks of the season. Can Ole Miss topple the Tide on Saturday?

That's the goal for Anthony and his teammates, but for now, the focus is on preparation, something that began months ago.

"You just trust God and go back to all the work you did in the offseason," Anthony said. "If you know you put in a lot of work this summer and have no regrets, you should be fully prepared to go out here. You might get a little jitters, but after that first play, they're gone. Let's rock out."

Ole Miss and Alabama are set to kick off at 2:30 p.m. CT on Saturday. The game will be televised on CBS.
