'Most Talented Roster Yet?' Ole Miss Draws Rave Reviews in Latest 2024 Record Prediction

The Ole Miss Rebels continue to gain momentum this offseason entering a race for a College Football Playoff berth.

The Ole Miss Rebels remain one of the hottest teams in offseason college football discussions, and that trend continued this week in some 2024 record predictions from 247Sports.

The publication recently released record predictions for all of the teams in the Southeastern Conference, and Ole Miss was projected to finish in a three-way tie for first place with an 11-1 record and a 7-1 mark in the SEC.

Georgia, LSU and Oklahoma — those are the three nationally-ranked opponents who stand in the Rebels' way of their first trip to the SEC Championship Game. Can they get there with Lane Kiffin's most-talented roster yet? We think so. If all goes according to plan, Ole Miss will be 6-0 and ranked inside the top 10 heading to Baton Rouge in mid-October. And if the Rebels beat the Tigers, they're virtually a playoff lock unless a second-half tailspin unfolds.

The only loss of the season projected for the Rebels? Nov. 9 at home against the Georgia Bulldogs.

Ole Miss certainly has a case for reaching the College Football Playoff for the first time in school history this fall. The Rebels captured their first-ever 11-win season in 2023 alongside a win in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, and with the playoff field expanding to 12 teams, the potential is even greater for Lane Kiffin & Co.

The Rebels are set to open their 2024 season at home on Aug. 31 against the Furman Paladins, and their SEC opener will come at home against the Kentucky Wildcats on Sept. 28. Ole Miss also will not face some former SEC West opponents in the Alabama Crimson Tide and Auburn Tigers in what appears to be a favorable conference slate.
