Ole Miss Rebels Reach 10 Wins With Egg Bowl Victory vs. Mississippi State

The Ole Miss Rebels reached a school history mark with a win in the Battle For The Golden Egg on Thursday night.

The No. 12 Ole Miss Rebels claimed their second 10-win regular season in school history on Thursday night, knocking off the Mississippi State Bulldogs in the annual Egg Bowl 17-7 in Starkville.

Ole Miss only led 3-0 at halftime, and Mississippi State claimed a lead early in the third quarter with a rushing touchdown from quarterback Will Rogers, but the Rebels responded on their next possession, driving the ball down the field and setting up running back Quinshon Judkins for a two-yard touchdown rush. Ole Miss would go on to score again early in the fourth quarter on a play action pass from Jaxson Dart to tight end Caden Priskorn to go up 17-7, a score that held until the final whistle.

Lane Kiffin's offense was not firing on all cylinders behind a makeshift offensive line and a banged up quarterback. Dart had to leave the game for one play after a targeting call extended an Ole Miss drive in the second half, but he was able to re-enter and finish the day with 96 yards passing, failing to reach the century mark.

Judkins finished the game as the Rebels' leading rusher with 119 yards, and Prieskorn led the game in receiving with 38 yards.

The win marks Ole Miss’ 65th all-time in the rivalry series, now leading the Bulldogs 65-46-6 in that department. The Rebels are also 3-1 in Egg Bowl meetings since Lane Kiffin took the head coaching job in Oxford.

Ole Miss finishes the regular season with a 10-2 record, finding itself in the same position as the 2021 season. The Rebels have an opportunity to claim the first-ever 11-win season in school history with a victory in their bowl game, a destination that has yet to be determined.
