No. 16 Ole Miss Rebels vs. Arkansas Razorbacks Game Predictions

The Grove Report staff gives predictions for Ole Miss Rebels vs. Arkansas Razorbacks.

OXFORD, Miss. -- The Ole Miss Rebels are riding high following their thrilling 55-49 upset victory over the LSU Tigers in Week 5, and are still very much in the tight race for the SEC West crown with an overall record of 4-1.

The Rebels will look to keep rolling in Week 6 when they welcome the Arkansas Razorbacks to Oxford on Saturday. Arkansas started the season off 2-0 but later fell to the BYU Cougars, LSU Tigers, and the Texas A&M Aggies, respectively. LSU beat the Razorbacks 34-31, while A&M won 34-22.

Arkansas is a battered team, but that also makes it a dangerous group.

The last time the Razorbacks came to Oxford in 2021, the Rebels won an electric 52-51 shootout after only seven combined points were scored in the first quarter. A year later, Arkansas smacked around a discombobulated Ole Miss team 42-27 in Fayetteville.

Kickoff between Ole Miss and Arkansas will be on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. CT in Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. Here are The Grove Report's predictions for Ole Miss' Saturday home game versus Arkansas.

The Ole Miss Rebels 2023 payback tour continues Saturday night as the team welcomes the Arkansas Razorbacks to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. The Rebels are looking to pick up their second conference win of the season, and have plenty of momentum to do so after beating LSU in a 55-49 shootout last Saturday. Ole Miss' last few matchups against Arkansas have been offensive spectacles, but I believe the Rebel defense will get back on track against the Razorbacks and limit their playmakers.

Have you met Lane Kiffin? You know the man holds grudges against opponents like a 20-something-year-old who was embarrased by in the girl's bathroom back in eighth grade. That 2021 loss still lingers with Rebels fans as a "what if" moment. A win, and the Rebels are 11-1 to close out the year instead of 10-2. It wouldn't matter in the SEC West standings, but it would mark the best season in program history.

Arkansas is a hit-or-miss program. One week, the Hogs are going down to the wire against LSU at Tiger Stadium in a night game with an upset in sight. The next, the offense looks flat against a surging Texas A&M defense in Arlington? What version comes to Oxford on Saturday?

Aw, screw it. This one's personal for Kiffin. Rebels by two touchdowns.

Ole Miss ran for 463 yards and two touchdowns on Arkansas last year and still lost by two touchdowns, so what gives? Quarterback KJ Jefferson threw for 168 yards and three touchdowns, while running back Raheim Sanders added a trio of scores on the ground. Jefferson and Sanders are the few contributing returners on the Razorbacks' roster, as the defense will welcome five new transfers — three of which are in the secondary. With the Rebels' weapons at wide receiver, they should try and attack what could be a patchwork Arkansas defensive backfield.

This rivalry series has a history of being crazy, and I think Arkansas shows up to play today. This game means a lot to Mississippi-native K.J. Jefferson, but that won't be enough in Oxford on Saturday. Give me the Rebels by 17.
