Today's Locked On Ole Miss Podcast discusses the Ole Miss Rebels and Auburn Tigers and the weird direction this game has traveled in the last four months.
Starting with the Lane Kiffin courtship and full-court press for Kiffin to him turning the Tigers down and staying at Ole Miss, it has led to Hugh Freeze talking the job on The Plains and an obvious eye pointed west to an opponent he desperately wants to beat. That and the Kiffin saga has energized the fanbase in a weird way toward Oxford.
In the second segment of the show, we talk about why this dynamic exists and how it relates to the Alabama Crimson Tide and Nick Saban. Saban has completely taken over the psyche of Auburn fans, and I believe there will be a parade when he retires. That in combination with Hugh Freeze and his desire to dominate Ole Miss helps the Auburn fanbase in this.
In our final segment of the day, we talk about why I will be sad when Ole Miss loses Auburn as an every year opponent when the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners enter the league, and I talk about some of the weird stuff that this series has given us in 30 years.
