Elite In-State Defender Jarcoby Hopson Reveals Details on Ole Miss Recruitment

The Ole Miss Rebels are one of the top suitors for 2025 LB/S Jarcoby Hopson out of Lake Cormorant.

The last seven days have brought a good bit of recruiting momentum for the Ole Miss Rebels in the 2025 class, and a large part of that momentum is thanks to in-state defender Jarcoby Hopson.

Hopson projects as a safety or linebacker at the next level, and he released his Top 8 schools on Saturday, a list that included Ole Miss. He recently sat down with The Grove Report to discuss his attraction to Ole Miss, one that begins with relationships, atmosphere and access to a good education.

Jarcoby Hopson shared photos from his Ole Miss visit on social media last April.

"Coaches, the fans, players," Hopson said on reasons he likes the Rebels. "It's a great finance and business school, as in education."

A huge part of modern day prep recruiting boils down to relationships between prospects and coaches, and that's a box that the Rebels have seemingly checked in Hopson's case. Of those he has come into contact with, he gave positive reviews.

"All good relationships," Hopson said. "Pete Golding is who I've talked to the most."

Hopson plans to be a December graduate, meaning he will be able to get a jump start on his college development entering the 2025 season. He has yet to decide a major, but solid academics is a strong selling point in deciding on a program, alongside athletic growth.

"Education, what I develop, what's the fastest way to get on the field," Hopson said. "Special teams or whatever is fastest."

Last season at Lake Cormorant (Miss.) High School, Hopson racked up 71 total tackles in 10 games, 51 of which were solo. Ole Miss is joined in his Top 8 by the Texas A&M Aggies, Miami Hurricanes, Arkansas Razorbacks, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Texas Longhorns, LSU Tigers, and Auburn Tigers.
