Pennsylvania's Top Prospect Commits to Penn State

Quinton Martin becomes the highest-ranked player in the Nittany Lions' 2024 recruiting class.

Penn State has received its most important commitment yet of the 2024 recruiting class in Quinton Martin, Pennsylvania's No. 1 prospect. Martin announced his decision Friday night on social media.

Martin's commitment represents a major moment for Penn State's 2024 class. 247Sports ranks Martin as No. 1 overall player in the cycle and the No. 3 athlete nationally. He's a top-30 overall recruit, the highest-ranked in Penn State's seven-player class.

At Belle Vernon High, Martin was instrumental in leading the team to the Pennsylvania Class 3A title last season. He rushed for 1,279 yards and 22 touchdowns, played defense and returned kicks. The 6-2, 200-pound Martin was named first-team all-state in Class 3A.

Martin maintained an elite offer list, which includes Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Miami and Tennessee, among many other schools. Penn State coach James Franklin has recruiting Martin for nearly two years. The Lions offered Martin a scholarship in spring 2021 and entertained him on multiple visits since.

Martin's commitment is more significant from a Pennsylvania perspective. It gives Penn State commitments from four of the state's top 10 players in the cycle. Further, Penn State can sign the state's No. 1 player for the third consecutive (lineman J'ven Williams in 2023 and running back Nicholas Singleton in 2022).

According to the 247Sports composite, Penn State's 2024 recruiting class ranks ninth nationally and third in the Big Ten.
