Penn State's 2024 recruiting class received another commitment from a highly rated defensive back, as 4-star safety Vaboue Toure announced his decision to join the class. Toure, from Irvington, N.J., is among the top 25 players nationally at his position, according to the 247Sports Composite, and the fourth-ranked player in New Jersey. Toure announced his commitment Friday on social media.

Toure, who took an official visit to Penn State in early June, chose the Lions over Oklahoma, Kentucky and Ohio State. He also has offers from Alabama, Notre Dame, Michigan State, Wisconsin, among many others. Toure is the 17th player in Penn State's 2024 recruiting class and the fifth defensive back, as associate head coach Terry Smith continues stocking talent in the secondary.

Penn State has received four commitments in June, though one player, Deryc Plazz, announced that his decision to decommit. The Lions' 2024 recruiting class ranks seventh nationally, according to the 247Sports Composite, and third in the Big Ten. Penn State will continue to host June official visits — about 50, according to Andy Frank, general manager of personnel and recruitment —in what has become the busiest recruiting month of the year. In addition, Penn State will host as many as 6,000 high school football players during the camp season.

"June has really become, probably from a recruiting perspective, the biggest month and most busy month in college football because of the summer official visits," Frank said. "... "If people truly were able to transplant themselves to this organization from a regular job, it would blow their minds, what it looks like here in June."
