Penn State Basketball Completes Top 25 Recruiting Class

The Nittany Lions' 4-player class includes a 6-7 forward Hudson Ward from Canada.

Penn State men's basketball coach Mike Rhoades completed his first full recruiting class Thursday by announcing the signing of 6-7 Canadian forward Hudson Ward. The Nittany Lions' four-player class ranks 23rd nationally, according to the 247Sports Composite, and includes top-100 player Miles Goodman.

Ward, a 3-star prospect is a top-200 player in the 2024 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports Composite. He averaged 26.2 points, 9.6 rebounds and 5 assists over the past two seasons at Western Canada Prep Academy in Alberta. He was a two-time team MVP and played for Canada's U17 team at the FIBA World Cup.

“I chose Penn State because I felt it was the best fit for me athletically," Ward said in a statement released by the basketball program. "Penn State is where I felt I was most wanted, and the coaches made me feel like part of their family from day one.”

“Hudson is a skilled and versatile forward who can finish strong at the rim and is comfortable
knocking down open threes," Rhoades said in a statement. "He comes from a great family and his
willingness to play hard on both ends of the floor makes him a strong fit for our program. We’re thrilled to welcome Hudson to our Penn State basketball family and can’t wait to get him to Happy
Valley in June.”

Penn State signed three players to its 2024 recruiting class in November. Here's a look:

Jahvin Carter

Carter, a 3-star prospect from Tennessee, was the state's second-ranked player, according to 247Sports. He led Alcoa High to a 2023 state title and scored 2,102 career points. Carter, a 6-3 guard, was named MVP of the state-title game, in which he scored the winning baskets with 2 seconds remaining.

Miles Goodman

Goodman, a 4-star prospect, ranked 96th nationally, according to 247Sports. The 6-11 forward from Seattle, who played at Southern California Academy, is Penn State's second-highest ranked recruit behind Tony Carr, according to 247Sports. He averaged a double-double (12 points, 10 rebounds) in his high school and AAU careers. Julius Von Hanzlik, his coach at Southern California Academy, called Goodman "one of the more intriguing prospects in high school basketball."

Dominick Stewart

The 6-5 guard was Goodman's teammate at Southern California Academy, where he was a 3-star prospect. Steward shot 40 percent from 3-point range last season.
