Pitt DT Calijah Kancey Named Midseason All-American by CBS Sports

More national recognition has arrived for the Pitt Panthers' best defensive lineman.

PITTSBURGH -- Calijah Kancey is off to a hot start in 2022. Through six games, he is on pace to set career-highs in total tackles and tackles for loss while sitting half a sack off of his best total from 2021. As the anchor of the Pitt Panthers' outstanding defensive line, Kancey's been one of the most productive interior tackles in the country and one national publication is taking notice.

CBS Sports named Kancey to their midseason All-American team. He was one of just three defensive lineman to earn the distinction. He joins a 27-man team headlined by star defenders like Alabama's Will Anderson, Georgia's Christopher Smith and Penn State's Joey Porter Jr.

Kancey, who's up to 21 tackles, 8.5 for loss and three sacks, was named a third team All-American by the Associated Press last year.
