Slovis Warming, 3 Pitt Starters Missing on Travel Roster for WMU Game

The Pitt Panthers will be down at leas three starters for their game against Western Michigan.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers took some brutal hits in their Week 2 loss to loss to Tennessee and they appear to have carried over into Week 3. Running back Rodney Hammond, center Owen Drexel and defensive tackle Devin Danielson - all listed as starters on the depth chart released earlier in the week - were all omitted from today's travel roster.

Israel Abanikanda will likely take on another heavy workload after setting a career-high in rushing yards last time out. Terrance Moore figures to slide in for Drexel after subbing in for him midway through the fourth quarter against Tennessee. David Green, listed as a co-starter with Danielson, makes the loss of Danielson sting a little less.

There was a positive development elsewhere, as first-string quarterback Kedon Slovis was spotted dressed and warming up at Waldo Stadium in Kalamazoo ahead of the 7:30 p.m. kickoff against Western Michigan. Head coach Pat Narduzzi said Slovis is a game-time decision.

But that doesn't necessarily mean that Slovis will start. Some of his teammates have dressed and warmed up then not played during games this season.

Slovis' backup, Nick Patti did not make the trip after suffering a leg injury, leaving either Nate Yarnell or Derek Kyler as the second-string signal-caller.
