Pitt's 2021 ACC Championship Team Featured Three First-Round Picks

In this story:
PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers' 2021 ACC Championship squad, which brought home the program's first outright conference championship in history, was obviously loaded with talent but the full extent of that talent was realized until much later.
That 2021 Pitt team can now say it had three first-round picks on the roster after defensive tackle Calijah Kancey and wide receiver Jordan Addison were picked 19th and 23rd overall, respectively, in the 2023 NFL Draft. Addison will join the Minnesota Vikings and Kancey was taken by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Quarterback Kenny Pickett got the ball rolling as the first round selection of the Pittsburgh Steelers last spring, when he was the first quarterback taken at the 20th overall pick.
2021 was a record-setting year for the Panthers. In addition to winning a conference for the first time, Pickett was named a Heisman Trophy Finalist and Addison won the Biletnikoff Award to fuel an offense that set a school record in points. The team's 11 wins were the most in a single season since the 1980s and its appearance in the Peach Bowl was the program's first appearance in a New Year's Six Bowl since the 2004 Fiesta Bowl.
