PITTSBURGH -- Another mock draft has former star Pitt Panthers defender Calijah Kancey going in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Pro Football Focus' Michael Renner released a new revision of his first round mock and he has the Seattle Seahawks using the 20th pick of this year's draft on Kancey. 

Kancey was the best pass-rushing defensive tackle in college football last season, earning a 92.4 grade in that regard," Renner wrote of the former Pitt defender. "He just happens to be only 6-foot and 280 pounds. The Seahawks are no stranger to smaller defensive tackles, with Poona Ford patrolling the middle of their defensive line for the past five seasons. Kancey can be an every-down three-technique and live in opponents' backfields."

PFF's Trevor Sikkema had Kancey as a first round pick in a mock draft two weeks ago. Sikkema predicted Kancey would go higher - 18th overall to the Detroit Lions. Few others have him being selected in the first round at all. 

Kancey was a unanimous All-American and ACC Defensive Player of the Year this past season after recording 31 tackles, 14.5 for a loss and 7.5 sacks in 11 games this year. He suffered a shoulder injury that kept him out of the regular season finale and will sideline him for the Sun Bowl against No. 18 UCLA, but Kancey still led the country's interior defensive linemen in tackles for loss.
