Pitt RB C'Bo Flemister Looking Forward to Homecoming at Notre Dame

C'Bo Flemister will return to South Bend for the first time since joining the Pitt Panthers this Saturday.

PITTSBURGH -- After spending the four years of his collegiate career with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, C'Bo Flemister to set to return to his old haunts when the Pitt Panthers travel to South Bend this weekend.

Flemister was a part of Notre Dame's 2018 recruiting class alongside current Panther teammates Shayne Simon and Phil Jurkovec. A consensus three-star recruit, Flemister tallied 471 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns over 110 attempts as a member of the Irish before transferring to Pitt ahead of the 2022 season.

Flemister is in the midst of a career year with the Panthers and has garnered praise from coaches and teammates alike about his leadership and what he brings on and off the field. During his media availability on Tuesday, Flemister attributed his growth and development to the time he spent in South Bend while also expressing excitement for his return.

"I’m excited to go anywhere and play anywhere, but it’s kind of special for me," Flemister said. "I did spend the first four years of my adult life there, so I kind of grew into who I am today there and then had the opportunity to come here and showcase that even more. It’s definitely exciting. It’ll be a great time to go back and I’m looking forward to it.”

Looking back on his recruitment, Flemister said he was initially drawn to Notre Dame due to the resources and benefits the school provides that will aid him in his future endeavors.

“The big attraction, for me personally, was my future. They preach '4 for 40', so for the next forty years of your life you’re building a huge network," Flemister said. "That alumni network is awesome. That was pretty much my biggest deciding factor.”

Flemister also said he keeps an open line of communication with his former teammates and is looking forward to competing against them on Saturday.

"I check in with guys every now and then, you know, kind of tell them ‘Good job’. I came in with some of those guys and some of them came in after I left, but we were teammates," Flemister stated. "I’m always rooting for them. It’ll be fun to go in and compete against them, so I’m looking forward to that.

Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman, who was the school's defensive coordinator and linebackers coach during both Flemister and Simon's last year in South Bend, voiced his fondness for both players and was proud they got the most out of their experience there.

“It hurts when you see people that leave that don’t get your degree. That’s what really hurts is when guys who are able to get their degree from this place and go on and look for an opportunity to play more elsewhere. That’s why I’m so happy for those guys. Both those guys got their Notre Dame degree and I’m proud of what they’ve done here at Notre Dame, what they’re doing at Pitt and look forward to seeing them perform on Saturday," Freeman said.
