Pitt QB Joey Yellen Transfers to Hawaii

Former Pitt Panthers quarterback Joey Yellen has found a new home.

PITTSBURGH -- Former Pittsburgh Panthers quarterback Joey Yellen announced on his personal Twitter account on Monday night that he has found a new team. The two-time transfer who began his career as a four-star recruit at Arizona State will head back west to play for the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors.

Yellen did not appear in a game during this past season for Pitt before entering the transfer portal on April 29. He is the 11th Panther to enter the transfer portal this year and the second quarterback to seek another school.

Yellen made the first start of his career for the Sun Devils in 2019. He filled in for the injured starter, Jayden Daniels. Yellen squared off with current Pitt signal-caller, Kedon Slovis, and threw for 292 yards and four touchdowns in a losing effort vs. USC.

At Pitt, he appeared in four total games -- all in 2020 -- and accounted for 402 yards and one touchdown to three picks while completing 45% of his passes.
