Recruiting Notebook: 2026 QB Earns Pitt Offer

PITTSBURGH -- With the 2023 season fast approaching, the Pitt Panthers are well into the portion of their calendar dedicated to recruiting. Spring practices will be underway soon, but the coaching staff is still looking for the next generation of Panthers.

The spring of quarterback recruiting continues for Pitt, which is still pursuing some of the top underclassmen high school signal-callers out there. Their latest target is California freshman Jackson Taylor, of Oaks Christian in Los Angeles, who earned an offer over the weekend.

He already holds offers from Kentucky, Oregon, Colorado, Louisville, Indiana, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt and Georgia.

One Pitt prospect has scheduled a visits to the Steel City for this spring and another has already taken a trip to see the Panthers.
Harry Varty, a 2024 quarterback from St. Thomas More High School in Connecticut, was in Pittsburgh this past weekend. He spent some time last spring working with former Pitt receiver Jared Wayne.

Shahn Alston, a 2026 athlete from Painesville, Ohio, is set to visit with the Panthers next weekend. The 5'10, 200-pound freshman already holds offers from Akron and Miami (OH).
